Curator Statement:

I created, curated and took part in two video festivals titled Laterna Magica I and Laterna Magica II at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. It was important to me to make these shows in collaboration with other artists and the community. Each festival featured a video installation as well as monitor screenings of work by video artists in the Boston and Cape Cod areas.

My first Laterna Magica collaboration was with a painter, Tracey Anderson and the second show was with a sculptor, Beth Ireland. This video installation “Time Being/Being Time” was shown at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum in 2006 as part of Laterna Magica II.

Beth Ireland created several sculptural forms, one is a structure built to hold a projection scrim. It measured 30' x 10' x 2.5'. The wood was bent wood lamination, which was also turned on the lathe. I was responsible for two video projections and two LCD video pieces. One of the LCD video pieces is the drain piece shown here.

The main video projection on the screen consisted of imagery from the local Provincetown community from the 1940's. It was well received by the community.
